Raincode Ship Week Day 5: Swap - Desuhiko x Yuma

Ok so tldr, I may or may not have fallen in love with this drawing while I was doing it so much so that I'm actively working on a whole forte swap au now-

I can't help but imagine how off the wall chaotic things would be if Desuhiko was the protag instead of Yuma- like Shinigami's experience would either be the most fun she's ever had or hell on earth, having to deal with an amnesiac who knows fuck all about himself except how to be dirty minded.

Also I think it'd be funny if swap Yuma was a famous musician trying to break in to the crime fighting world, instead of a detective trying to become a superstar. The WDO probably only sent him to Kanai Ward hoping he'd die cuz they don't want him around but he's a roach of a creature who just won't stay down!

ermmm rc ship week : Swap !

i went with charlieseth cuz them being swapped is so funny 2 me. i first thought of this months ago and i have like a whole thing about how itd be like ok so One they swap positions, Charlie is the chief of the investigation team andd Seth is just hisss lackey or whatever. But the crusher and crushee is also swapped. sethh has a crush on charlie in this au, However ! It's just soo intense and it loops riiiight back to him being "GET AWAY FROM ME DONT TOUCH ME GO DIE NOW." . Charile meanwhile doesn't care all that much for seth but he finds him funny and cute. hes like a purse dog to him. likes keeping him around just cuz its entertaining and pretty to look at

charlies still like, affectionate & clingy, but hes got some limits now . like 4 example kissing, thats a nono 4 him you'd never catch him kissing his subordinate ermmm ew!!!! and he doesn't like any accusations of them being a thing or whatever

Guess what, I did some things with the Roleswap version I made of Makoto.

I was playing around with the shades of purple, and wanted to make a difference between the purple uniform and Yuma's default blue uniform. I still use sprites as reference for the characters, because I'm afraid of making them look too different and irresponsible, and Makoto looks good in both variants, right? I hope you guys don't mind me doing this in each different drawing.

Makoto switching places with Yuma, he would wear the same style of clothing, I was thinking of making him wear pants, but, I think it wouldn't look good and Yuma would already wear pants with different blue suit variations. I don't know if he would use a floral theme, I was thinking about stars, I don't know why.

Makoto being human here would be interesting, I've been thinking about Human AUs, where characters who aren't human become human and have modern lives, I really love the plot and the Homunculi thing in the game, but imagine if everyone from Kanai Ward + Makoto were human. I like to think of him as the total opposite of Yuma, even without memories, his relationships would be a little more complicated to form, and the player (you) would have work to build. He could be, like, passive aggressive, and be very sarcastic at first, and start to open up more as the game progresses, he would have his hair tied up at the beginning and would only let it down in chapter 3 onwards. I also wanted to make him dressed in the blue uniform because I think the way Yuma dresses is cute. I was also thinking about the mirrored thing.

I'm really interested in a version of the game where you play as him, MC!Makoto is very good idea, the story could be told from his point of view and you understand him more. I'd like to know in a future sequel if he and Kanai Ward are okay now.

Yuma, Shinigami, and the NDA as the Peacekeepers aka the villains, and then Yomi, Martina, and Peacekeepers and Makoto as the detectives aka the protags/heros.

Yomi in Yuma’s role and Martina in Shinigami’s role.

Then vice versa: Yuma in Yomi’s role and Shinigami in Martina’s role.

Personalities don’t change though it’s literally just these lads in the exact opposite scenario they were originally-

With swap aus that have Yuma and Makoto switch, I think that Makoto should still be the homunculus- but he doesn't know, he doesn't remember. When I first played chapter 5 I was pretty sure that Yuma was going to be the non-defective homunculus, and that Makoto was Number 1 or some relative or smth. I was very much wrong but I think swap aus could look at that. Yuma finding out his true identity is number 1 is a big shock and all, but can you imagine??? Finding out that you're a homunculus, the "monsters" you've been trying to find??? And Shinigami would've known. Honestly I think her not telling swap!Makoto what his true nature is might be a bigger blow than her not telling Yuma that he was Number 1

RainCode Ship Week Day 5: First Times/Final Moments | Swap

The second I saw the prompt swap I knew exactly what to do! This one is for @tastymarbar! This is their swap AU where Desuhiko and Shinigami swap places! So introducing Shinihiko! The Superstar Death God!

So Yuma and Shinihiko have just entered the Mystery Labyrinth and Shinihiko is leading Yuma down the corridor. Yuma is embarrassed about the contact but Shinihiko is fine (but internally he's screaming. Cute boy and he hasn't had any living contact in hundreds of years. It's very overwhelming for him).

Mmmm forte swap au brain rot upon ye!

I've already completed designs for everyone at the NDA but I wanna space out the posts a bit cuz I don't think I'd be able to say all I'd want to in just one post!

Ramble about character info below; (+spoilers for all of mdarc)

Obviously this is based on my silly doodles for rain code ship week but I've actually started putting a lot of thought in to this now! (I've had waaaaaaay too much free time recently and I'm blessed with the ability to come up with lore/world building very quickly given enough motivation!)

So first off: Why Storm Cypher? Well cuz it's a protagonist swap! Desuhiko's now the amnesiac trainee being haunted by Shinigami so it made sense in my opinion to make this au's name reflectant of his last name, Thunderbolt. So that's where the 'Storm' comes from. 'Cypher' because it's a form of code and... well I just think it sounds nice basically! I do what I do for my own enjoyment, I don't always need to have a reason - no matter what my teachers say.

Also I decided to change some (Not all) character's last name's to better reflect their newly assigned fortes.

Anyway- It's character info dumping time!!!

Desuhiko, like og Yuma, has absolutely no memory of his past. While his personality remains fairly intact, he boards the Amaterasu Express hoping to figure out who he is along the way. While nobody there knows who he is, he instead finds he have a knack for word-play, puns and pick up lines, leading to accusations of secretly being a circus clown as opposed to a detective. This attitude is only solidified more upon meeting Shinigami, the death god with just as many innuendos to make as he does. They get along almost dangerously well, even more so when he learns she has a humanoid form. After completing the first mystery labyrinth, he decides that being a detective HAS to be his true calling, since solving the case was pretty fun all things considered, and receives his hoodie from The Chief to help keep him dry once arriving in Kanai Ward.

Yuma on the other hand, takes the place of co-star of chapter 2. At first he comes off as cool and charismatic but he breaks down almost immediately at the slightest hint of conflict. He's been a very famous musician for years prior to becoming a master detective, though he finds it hard to fully express himself through anything other then his appearance and music. The anxiety induced from an excess of fans, attention, and not knowing who to trust anymore thanks to his own popularity, he was ecstatic to be scouted by the WDO for his talents in disguises. Once it blossomed into a fully fledged forte and he was allowed to work as a detective properly though... they started regretting hiring him. Chaotic, anti-authoritatian and impossible to track down, he's more of a vigilante then a real detective. He was selected to go to Kanai Ward due to it's predicted high mortality rate, the higher ups hoping to dispose of the troublemaker without being too obvious about it. What does APAB mean you ask? All Peacekeepers Are Bastards!!! The Chief wasn't very happy to see him wearing it but permanent marker is permanent.

I haven't decided if I'll change Shinigami's humanoid design yet. If I do though, it'll probably just be more remenicent of her beta design. I haven't decided if I'll swap the Amaterasu Express detectives either though but... maybe I will. Since its forte swap though, the peacekeepers will all remain the same.

I'm hoping to write a fanfic for this, as opposed to like... a comic. But I'm partial to the idea of maybe doing an ask blog as well? I don't know yet. Either way, I'll probably post more for this tomorrow! <3
